Savvy Offroad Legacy 6061-T651 Aluminum Front Bumper Without Hoop | 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL / JLU & 2020–2026 Jeep Gladiator JT
Installation note upfront: The Savvy Legacy front bumper requires trimming the front frame plates for proper fitment and to achieve the full clearance geometry. This is the modification that enables the maximum approach angle this bumper delivers. Full instructions are included. The winch plate can be bolted or welded, your choice based on your build and how permanent you want the installation to be. (SEE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW)
At just 8 lbs for the aluminum skin, the Savvy Offroad Legacy 6061-T651 Aluminum Front Bumper Without Hoop is the lightest front bumper skin in Savvy's entire lineup and the lightest high-clearance no-hoop front bumper available for the 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL, JLU, and 2020–2026 Jeep Gladiator JT. Built from 3/16" 6061 aluminum the heat-treated, precipitation-hardened structural alloy with approximately 35% higher tensile strength and nearly double the yield strength of the 5052 aluminum used in the Krawler Lite line, the Legacy skin delivers more impact resistance in less weight than any competing front bumper in this category. Pair it with the 3/16" steel winch plate, centered D-ring recovery mounts, and Factor 55 fairlead compatibility, and this is the complete front bumper system for builders who refuse to compromise on weight, strength, or clearance.
What sets the Savvy Legacy front bumper apart is its modular replaceable front skin design. If the bumper skin is damaged on the trail, it can be replaced without replacing the full bumper assembly. That means easier repairs, lower long-term cost, and better serviceability than many traditional front bumper designs.
More off-road wins than any other bumper, born from racing, tested and perfected through King of the Hammers & Baja.
Born From Racing, Not Just Trail Pics
A lot of companies post trail pics. Not many can post finish line pics. Savvy can.
When we say these bumpers were born from racing, we mean it literally. Savvy has stacked more finishes, wins, and championships than any other brand in the armor game proven at the races where equipment either holds or fails in front of everyone watching:
- King of the Hammers: The most demanding off-road race on earth. Ultra-four rock crawling at speed. If your armor survives here, it survives everything.
- Baja: High-speed desert racing where vibration, heat, and repeated impact over hundreds of miles separate real engineering from spec sheet marketing.
If it holds up there, the trails we all wheel on feel easy.
We don't build once and walk away. We keep improving because the trails, the speeds, and the drivers keep pushing the limits. Every refinement in the Legacy line came from breaking something, analyzing why, and building the next version better. That cycle does not stop because the racing does not stop.
Built light. Built strong. Built with purpose. Champions run Savvy and that list is long.
Legacy vs. Krawler Lite Front Bumper, The Material Difference That Defines the Two Lines
Both the Legacy and Krawler Lite no-hoop front bumpers use a 3/16" steel winch plate, the same centered D-ring recovery mounts, the same Factor 55 fairlead cutout, and the same modular replaceable skin design. The difference is in the aluminum alloy and the smaller higher clearance Legacy skin.
The Krawler Lite uses 5052 aluminum: a marine-grade alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. Skin weight: 10.5 lbs. Installs without frame modification using factory mounting points.
The Legacy uses 6061 aluminum: a heat-treated structural alloy with approximately 35% higher tensile strength and nearly double the yield strength of 5052. Skin weight: 8 lbs. Requires trimming the front frame plates to achieve the full clearance geometry. The winch plate bolts on or welds your choice.
The Legacy skin is 2.5 lbs lighter, higher clearance and meaningfully stronger. On a front bumper that takes the first hit on every approach, those two numbers lighter and stronger are not contradictory. They are the result of using the right alloy for the application. 6061 is harder and more impact resistant than 5052. It resists deformation better under direct rock contact. And when it does eventually need replacement, you swap the skin not the bumper.
Key Features
- Higher Clearance 8 lb 6061 Aluminum Skin, Lightest in the Savvy Lineup: The Legacy no-hoop front bumper skin weighs just 8 lbs, 2.5 lbs lighter than the Krawler Lite equivalent and the lightest skin in Savvy's entire front bumper range. 6061 aluminum achieves this because it is a stronger alloy per pound, allowing the same 3/16" thickness to deliver more strength at less weight than 5052. Less front-end weight means better handling, less front sag on lifted JLs and JTs, and improved fuel economy on daily-driven builds.
- 6061 The Strongest Aluminum Alloy in Savvy's Bumper Line: Heat-treated, precipitation-hardened structural aluminum with approximately 35% higher tensile strength and nearly double the yield strength of 5052. Harder surface, higher impact resistance, better behavior under repeated direct rock contact on approach. This is the alloy used in aerospace structural components and precision machined applications where impact resistance is the primary design criterion. At 3/16" and 8 lbs, it is the right alloy for a front bumper skin that takes the first hit on every approach.
- Maximum Approach Clearance, Frame Plate Trimming Required: The Legacy front bumper achieves its maximum approach geometry by requiring trimming of the front frame plates during installation. This repositions the bumper lower and tighter against the JL, JLU, and JT body than a no-modification design allows. Full installation instructions are included. This is the modification that unlocks the clearance geometry.
- Winch Plate, Bolt or Weld, Your Choice: The 3/16" steel winch plate can be bolted to the frame for a strong, removable installation, or welded for a permanent, maximum-strength connection. No other front bumper in this category gives you that choice at the time of installation. Savvy builds the flexibility in so you decide based on your build and how permanent you want the setup to be.
- Compatible with All Major Winches: Warn XD (FITS BEST), Warn Zeon (FITS BEST), Warn VR Evo, Smittybilt, Badlands, and Superwinches.
- Factor 55 Fairlead Cutout: Hawse fairlead cutout specifically designed for Factor 55 fairleads to protect synthetic winch rope from sharp edges and prevent rope wear and fatigue. Other fairleads may require minor trimming.
- Centered D-Ring Recovery Mounts: 3/4" thick laser-cut steel D-ring mounts centered on the winch plate the strongest pull point on the vehicle. Centering eliminates yaw during winch recoveries for safer, more controlled extractions on uneven terrain.
- Modular Replaceable Front Skin: The 8 lb aluminum skin is a separate modular component from the steel winch plate. Take a hard hit? Replace the skin. The winch plate, D-ring mounts, and mounting hardware stay on the Jeep throughout the process. Order a skin, not a bumper.
- Maximum Airflow & Lighting Flexibility, No Hoop: The open, no-hoop design maximizes radiator airflow and gives complete freedom in auxiliary lighting placement. Mount a light bar above on a separate bracket, run A-pillar pods, or run no additional lights nothing in the way of your setup.
- Fits JL, JLU, and JT Gladiator: One bumper design fits the 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL, JLU, and 2020–2026 Jeep Gladiator JT. The same premium 6061aluminum, the same steel winch plate, the same clearance geometry across all three platforms.
- Made in the USA: CNC laser-cut and engineered in America. Winch and shackles shown in images not included and must be purchased separately.

Legacy No-Hoop vs. Legacy With Hoop, Which Front Bumper Is Right for Your Build?
Both versions of the Legacy front bumper use the same 6061 aluminum skin, the same 3/16" steel winch plate, the same centered D-ring mounts, the same Factor 55 fairlead cutout, and the same modular replaceable skin system. Both require front frame plate trimming. Both give you the bolt or weld choice on the winch plate. The difference is entirely in the upper tube.
Choose the no-hoop version if you want maximum airflow openness, total flexibility in auxiliary lighting placement above the bumper, a cleaner minimal front profile, or if you run a light bar on a separate roof or A-pillar mount above the bumper line.
Choose the hoop version if you want the upper tube to guard your grille, radiator, and any front-mounted auxiliary lights from rocks, brush, and trail debris or if you prefer the more aggressive, trail-ready aesthetic the protective hoop provides. Both versions deliver the same maximum approach clearance and the same 8 lb skin weight.
Best For
- 2018–2026 Jeep JL, JLU, and Gladiator JT builders who want the strongest, lightest aluminum front bumper skin available and are ready for the frame plate trimming that delivers the full clearance geometry
- Winch builds where the bolt-or-weld winch plate choice matches the builder's preference for permanent vs. removable installation
- Builds running auxiliary lighting on roof racks, A-pillar mounts, or separate light bars above the bumper where no hoop in the way matters
- Weight-conscious builds where 8 lbs of 6061-T651 aluminum is meaningfully better than 10.5 lbs of 5052 at the same thickness
- Overlanders and rock crawlers on the JL, JLU, or JT who want maximum approach clearance in the cleanest, lowest-profile no-hoop package available
Why Choose the Savvy Legacy 6061 Aluminum Front Bumper?
Many Jeep JL/JLU/JT front bumpers add unnecessary bulk, reduce airflow, or make trail damage expensive to fix. The Savvy Legacy front bumper without hoop is designed to deliver better clearance, lighter weight, strong recovery capability, winch compatibility, and modular repairability in one clean off-road setup.
For Jeep owners looking for a Jeep JL front bumper, Jeep JLU front bumper, or Jeep Gladiator JT front bumper that improves approach angle, reduces front-end weight, and still offers strong recovery and winch functionality, this design provides a strong balance of clearance, durability, serviceability, and clean styling. It is an ideal upgrade for rock crawlers, overland builds, trail rigs, and well-built daily-driven Jeeps.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this require any cutting or frame modification?
Yes. The Legacy front bumper requires trimming the front frame plates for proper fitment and to achieve the full clearance geometry. This is the modification that unlocks the maximum approach angle. Full installation instructions are included. If you want a no-modification bolt-on front bumper, see the Savvy Krawler Lite front bumper without hoop for the JL, JLU, and JT. (SEE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW)
Can the winch plate be bolted or does it have to be welded?
Both options are available the winch plate can be bolted for a strong, removable installation or welded for a permanent maximum-strength connection. You decide at install time based on your preference. No other front bumper in this category gives you that choice.
Why does the Legacy use 6061 instead of 5052 aluminum?
6061 is heat-treated and precipitation-hardened, giving it approximately 35% higher tensile strength and nearly double the yield strength of 5052. It is harder, more impact resistant, and handles direct rock contact better on a front bumper that takes the first hit on every approach. The Legacy line uses 6061 because it is the strongest aluminum alloy that makes sense in a bumper skin application stronger per pound than 5052, and stronger per pound than mild steel.
What is the difference between the Legacy and Krawler Lite no-hoop front bumper?
Three things. First, the Legacy uses 6061aluminum (stronger, harder, more impact resistant) versus the Krawler Lite's 5052 aluminum. Second, the Legacy skin weighs 8 lbs versus the Krawler Lite's 10.5 lbs. Third, the Legacy requires front frame plate trimming to achieve its full clearance geometry the Krawler Lite is bolt-on with no modification required. The steel winch plate, D-ring mounts, Factor 55 fairlead cutout, and modular replaceable skin design are shared across both lines.
Does this fit the Gladiator JT as well as JL and JLU?
Yes. The Legacy no-hoop front bumper fits the 2018–2026 Jeep Wrangler JL and JLU and the 2020–2026 Jeep Gladiator JT using the same design.
Are the winch and shackles in the photos included?
No. Winch, shackles, and fairlead shown in product images are not included and must be purchased separately.
What finish does it ship in?
Raw aluminum skin & raw steel winch plate. Powder coat or paint to your preferred color. 6061can also be left unfinished it does not rust in raw condition.
